not down for thanksgiving

What's your opinion on Thanksgiving?

Most people can agree that Thanksgiving is a factually inaccurate representation of historic events. As kids we are taught to celebrate Thanksgiving as a time when indigenous people and their colonizers came together, shared a meal, and expressed their gratitude. Sadly, what we are taught as children growing up in the United States is actually just a convenient denial of violent European colonization of Native land that continues to enforce ideals of white supremacism.

SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6_7e75vWldk_Q5Gz3r4vTw?sub_confirmation=1 in this retelling of a classic thanksgiving tale, pocahontas approaches john smith, requesting that his men (the ultimate frisbee team) back off in their gentrification of her neighborhood... john smith low key freaks out when he learns of her betrayal but it's chill cus when he wakes up he can return to his white lil family and a pleasant turkey dinner...

In reality, the genocide of indigenous people is fundamental to U.S. history, and completely obscuring this in a holiday is just example of America’s continual celebration of inherently racist historic events.
